Monkey-ing Around in the Nursery
Michael and Alycia were in town visiting all weekend – which was nice because they haven’t been down to the house in several years…Alycia and I decided to be a bit creative by adding a few personal touches and hand-paint canvases to hang in Tyler’s room. I designed the monkey face a week or so ago and cut a stencil out of plexi-glass to help easily transfer the design to the canvases – trying to keep the design as uniform as possible across the nine canvases. We had a blast painting them and they turned out exactly how I envisioned.
We also finally put another piece of furniture in the room – a bookshelf. The room is slowly coming together and we’re hoping to finish up in the next few weeks…I’d rather be ahead of the curve and not scrambling at the 11-hour, when I’m uncomfortable and exhausted.

No pain, no gain, right?
So over the course of the last week or so I’ve begun to experience some major discomfort at night and early morning. On Tuesday morning it was so bad that I decided to make a doctor’s appointment as a precautionary measure. The doctor examined me and said everything felt and looked normal and the baby’s heart beat was normal and strong – so that was very reassuring, but he couldn’t pin point exactly where the pain was originating or why it was occurring. It was more severe and aggressive than the normal “growing pains.”
On a good note, last night there was no pain and I slept fairly comfortably through the night.
At any rate, I am going to continue to monitor my body and hope that this all stems from Little Baby K’s continuing growth and increasing movement.
Shopping Extravaganza for Baby K
Nothing beats strolling down Franklin Street in Chapel Hill on a Sunday afternoon shopping for our little soon-to-be Tar Heel. We had lunch with the Ryan’s parents and then commenced shopping for a few hours. The selection of carolina blue baby clothing was abundant and quite overwhelming – pictured left is the results of our afternoon on Franklin!
We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the time with the Keefer parents…
Slow Progress and Upcoming Excitement!
Hello All! It’s been a few days since we’ve posted and I just wanted to keep everyone up-to-date on the very slow happenings! My energy is at a high right now and I am continuing to feel strong. We’re still monitoring the “non-baby-bump,” but I’m hopeful we’ll see a little sign of Baby K in the coming weeks.
Monday, March 30th, I have an appointment to get blood work done for the cystic fibrosis testing. Our following appointment on April 15th will be the most anticipated appointment thus far! If baby K cooperates we’ll be able to know the gender of our little blessing! YAY! I’m confident all will go smoothly and we’ll soon be able to commence the shopping and buy out all surrounding baby departments!
I am most definitely looking forward to shopping and I know the grandparents and adopted grandparents (Joanne and Roger, you know who you are!) are very excited as well!
That’s all for now…
Baby Heartrate Versus My HR
Ever since our last ultrasound appointment where we got to see the baby’s heartrate for the first time, I’ve been keeping that number in mind as I’ve been cycling. My little heart rate monitor displays my heartrate throughout my rides and I keep thinking how close my heatrate is to the baby’s currently as I’m spinning on my Tarmac Expert or Allez Comp.
